What are the benefits of direct accreditation with a registry?

Change and development are the values we invariably follow. Analyzing the possibilities of offering better and better services, we are considering replacing operators that offer national domains, or completely new extensions.

One option is also to directly sign a contract with the registry of a given extension and obtain direct accreditation. Wondering what benefits direct accreditation offers, both to you and to us as a registrar?

What is direct accreditation with a registry and how does it work?

Accreditation is permission to perform specific tasks, by a specific entity, on behalf of someone. Accreditation with domain registries involves the fulfillment of certain conditions and gives a lot of privileges. What does it look like to work with a registry and how does it work?

Every domain in the world has a governing body for a particular extension, which is usually called a registry. Registries:

  • regulate the possibility of registering a domain,
  • manage the rules and regulations, determining the rules for maintaining domains,
  • they take care of domain availability,
  • they also decide on the prices for particular operations,
  • determine the rules that must be met to register a domain.

Accreditation with a domain registry allows us to directly access the domain registry system to register and manage domains ourselves. By signing an agreement with the registry, we agree to resell, that is, to continue selling a given extension. We have several such agreements signed:

  • With RoTLD, the Romanian domain registry to handle and offer the .ro and .com.ro domain.
  • With NASK, i.e. the registry of Polish domains for handling and offering .pl and subordinate domains.
  • With EURid, or the European Domain Registry for the handling and registration of .eu, .ευ (dedicated to Greek alphabet recipients) and .ею domains (for Cyrillic recipients).

Obtaining accreditation

The process of obtaining accreditation is not simple. The basic step in the accreditation process is to meet a series of technical, operational and financial requirements set by the organization managing the extension. Requirements may include the ability to support the communication protocols used to interact with the registry, having the appropriate technical infrastructure, the ability to provide customer support services, and the ability to cover the costs associated with domain registration.

It is not uncommon for the infrastructure to be tested and positive infrastructure test results to be sent to the registry before the contract is signed. Governing bodies (although this is not the rule) also require the payment of an often not inconsiderable down payment, which is used for subsequent registrations.

Once accredited, we get direct access to the domain registry, which allows us to register, renew, transfer and delete domains ourselves. This allows us to provide you with access to these services.

Direct accreditation with the domain registry also allows us to directly manage domains without the need for intermediaries. This, in turn, has the benefit of giving you more control over your domain registration and management processes, as well as potentially incurring lower costs.

Increasing credibility and customer trust

Customer trust is a process that takes years to earn. Not only by solving customer problems, but also by offering the best possible service. We believe that direct accreditation with a domain registry contributes to increased credibility and customer trust in several key areas:

  1. Professionalism and competence. Obtaining direct accreditation forces us to meet a number of stringent technical, operational and financial requirements. These requirements are usually so high that only companies that are competent in the field of Internet technology and services are able to meet them. As an accredited registrar, we have the necessary knowledge and skills to manage your domains, so you can trust us.
  2. Stability and security. Accredited domain registrars have direct access to the domain registry. This means that we are able to provide stability and security of services. Unlike companies that use intermediaries, direct registrars are not dependent on other companies, which can damage customer confidence if services are not available.
  3. Customer service. As an accredited domain registrar, we provide direct customer service. This means that our customers have access to faster and more efficient services. We have full control over our services, and this allows us to provide better customer service.
  4. Price. With accreditation, we can offer market prices because we don't pay commissions to intermediaries. This, in turn, increases the confidence of customers, who know that they are paying for the service without additional fees.

Remember that direct accreditation is only one factor in credibility and trust. Building trust is also about consistently delivering quality service and customer service that will build and maintain customer relationships.

Accreditation is not only a confirmation of the quality of the services we offer, but also makes us a competitive operator in the domain market. Winning the trust of customers is something we are constantly working on. Thank you for choosing our services. Your choice significantly affects the reputation of our company.

Reduced waiting time for registration decisions

Direct accreditation with a domain registry often allows, in many cases, to reduce the waiting time for domain registration decisions. This was the case with .ee domains, where the registration time was reduced from 5 working days to immediate registration. This is because we have direct access to the domain registry and can process registration requests without involving intermediaries.

In the classic model, where we rely on the services of an intermediary, the domain registration process can be longer. The intermediary must receive the registration request from us, forward it to the registry, and then forward the response back to us. Each of these steps takes time and can lead to delays.

On the other hand, as a direct registrar, we can communicate with the domain registry directly and immediately. This means that registries can process registration requests faster and more efficiently, reducing the waiting time for registration decisions. Reducing wait times benefits both us and you. For us, faster processing times lead to higher productivity and better customer service. And that's what we're noticing with the introduction of direct accreditation with individual registries. For our customers, a shorter turnaround time for registration decisions means a faster website or service.

Simplifying administrative procedures and reducing costs

The decision to work directly with a registry and obtain direct accreditations has brought many benefits. The three most important of these are:

  1. Simplification of administrative procedures. Direct accreditation gives us direct access to the domain registry, which has greatly simplified the process of registering and managing domains. This has happened, for example, in the case of .ee and .ro domains, where registration processes have been significantly shortened. Instead of communicating with an intermediary, we manage domains directly and have access to more data. This greatly speeds up the processes and increases the efficiency of the service.
  2. Access to data in real time. This means that we have immediate access to the latest status information on the domains we manage. Most often, this includes information such as registration status, WHOIS data, expiration and renewal dates, and other relevant details. This allows us to make decisions based on the most up-to-date data, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of domain management. Direct access to domain registry data facilitates faster response to unexpected problems. For example, if a domain is unexpectedly suspended or transferred, we will be able to react immediately and take appropriate action.
  3. Reducing costs. Intermediaries often charge for their services, so direct accreditation is often cheaper. In this way, we can avoid the additional fees charged by intermediaries, and thus reduce the overall costs associated with domain registration and management.

It is worth noting that direct accreditation requires a certain amount of technical expertise and resources, as well as meeting certain requirements set by domain management organizations. Among other things, it requires understanding and meeting technical, legal and operational requirements. For some registrars, the costs and resources needed to meet these requirements outweigh the potential savings from avoiding intermediary fees. This means that direct accreditation will not always be cost-effective for all entities.

A ticket to the new world

As you can see, direct accreditation with a registry carries many advantages. It is not only the opportunity to choose a trusted registrar, but also to register a domain faster at a favorable price. Accreditation certifies that the domain registrar is in good financial standing and stable. We invite you to register domains for yourself, or your customers.
