About the .org.cn Domain
The .org.cn domain is a third-level domain within China’s national .cn namespace, specifically intended for non-profit organizations, associations, and institutions operating in or with ties to China. The registration policies for .org.cn are identical to those that govern .cn and .com.cn domains, as overseen by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC).
In accordance with updated regulations, foreign individuals and entities are once again permitted to register Chinese domain names, including .org.cn. However, the process involves several compliance requirements:
- The domain name must not include terms prohibited by Chinese authorities, such as geographic names, generic product categories, or registered trademarks owned by others.
- Registrants must provide complete and up-to-date identity and contact details.
- Acceptance of all current CNNIC policies and domain regulations is mandatory.
- The registrant must ensure their website content complies with the content restrictions defined by Chinese law.
- For most foreign registrants, the domain must be hosted outside of China, unless the registrant holds a valid ICP license.
- Registrants bear full responsibility for any suspension or deletion resulting from policy violations.
From March 2022, all registrations require a copy of a valid business registration document (e.g., Polish KRS extract or equivalent) and a scanned ID (passport or national ID) of the contact person listed in the order. The domain cannot be activated without these documents.
Registering a .org.cn domain for Chinese-based entities may involve additional costs and procedures. Please contact us for a quote before placing an order. Previous trustee services (where a Chinese-based trustee acted as the formal registrant) are no longer accepted for new registrations.
Current status: The .org.cn domain is available for qualified individuals and organizations subject to CNNIC verification procedures.
